Casual and Formal Dinnerware

LaMichael Ellerman asked:

There are two main types of dinnerware that you will need to have in your cabinet in order to be ready for any occasion: Casual and Formal. One of the distinguishing factors to tell the two types apart is by the color of the dinnerware. Casual dinnerware comes in a multitude of colors, especially more vibrant and bold designs. In comparison, formal dinnerware comes in white and delicate patterns. They also tend to be thinner and smaller as well.

Trying to pick the perfect pattern and material can be overwhelming and challenging. Ask yourselves these questions to help narrow down what you are looking for.
*Do you prepare your smaller or bigger meals?
*How often do you have guests over?
*When you do have guests, is it typically casual or formal?

One of the considerations you must keep in mind is that you want your dinnerware to match well with your household furnishings. There are different designs that convey different messages whether it is fashionable, sophisticated, or romantic. Moreover, be sure you know the type of material you are dealing with. For example, stoneware dinnerware has a big number of advantages because it is dishwasher/oven/freeze safe. It can be used for all types of occasions, whereas, some plates need to operate under mild temperate. Either extreme temperate may crack the plates, so pay attention to what type of dinnerware materials you are dealing with.

Before purchasing your dinnerware, complete a quality inspection of your plates with a fine tooth comb. Some plates may be chipped before you even use them, so inspect them carefully. Some other things you may want to look are possible color variations, bubbling in the glazes, small cracks, and blemishes. If you purchase them online and have any of these issues, exchange or return them immediately. All of the places that I have shopped at never had a problem with any of my returns, but it’s better to catch it early on to prevent any possible issues.

My recommendation is to buy both types of sets so that you can use both for any occasion. If you want to portray sophistication and elegance, go with your formal dinnerware. For anything else use your casual dinner plates.
